Sammy Salami
Finally found some time to start posting again so I'll try and put some new stuff up this week! For now, here are some fun shots I took today of Sammy Salami and her owner Christina (my make-up artist extraordinaire) on a shoot.

Performer Holly Dunn
This Sunday, I photographed Holly Dunn, a sweet and talented theatre actress and singer. Worked with Christina Natale, my fave make-up artist, and Mark Bustos, who does AMAZING hair.. as you can see below.

Comedian Julie Goldman
Julie Goldman is a comic and one of the stars of the Big Gay Sketch Show on MTV Networks channel, LOGO. Here are some shots I took of her on her final day in her apartment in Brooklyn before moving to L.A. for Autostraddle.

Full interview.
(side note: Blogger seems to be messing with the images a bit today, a little fuzzy and whatnot, so bear with me. If you'd like to use them with credit on another site, please email me and I can send decent files!)

The Sounds
In the downstairs of Santos Party House, a couple of skinny stylists are grooming new wave band, The Sounds. They are running late and we have about 3 minutes (which is sometimes as too normal for band shoots). There is no time for lights and adjustments, but luckily I've done this before and there are plenty of cool looking spaces to shoot a few on the fly. Then after, I settle in to listen to their interviews.
The Sounds are made up of five members, three of which are the songwriters and pictured below, are set to release their third album, Crossing The Rubicon this June.
Below is lead singer, Maja, and band mates Felix and Jesper, who are all songwriters and musicians.

The Cliks
The Cliks are ready to release their new album Dirty King on June 23rd of this year. Sitting crammed into the humid basement of Mercury Lounge in Manhattan's Lower East, Canadian band mates Lucas Silveira (vocalist/guitarist), Jen Benton (bass), and Morgan Doctor (drums) talked about touring, the buzz around Dirty King, and Canada (of which they are very proud). I had photographed Lucas once before with Cyndi Lauper before last year's True Colors Tour, so you can imagine my surprise when Cyndi showed up to the show and even got on stage to sing.

The Presets, La Roux, and Larry Tee
This Friday I photographed Larry Tee, La Roux and The Presets.
For those of you who do not know Larry Tee, he is the innovator behind the Elector-Clash movement. He's a DJ, a promoter and a producer who helped artists like the Scissor Sisters, Fischerspooner, and Peaches get their start. He's also had lots to say about drug-induced days his NYC party, Love Machine, being BFF's with RuPaul, and co-writing Ru's famous song “Supermodel (You Better Work)”.
Here is Larry with DJ Roxy Cottontail and electro-pop performer Mel Merio. They were all so fun to photograph.

Elly of the UK-based Electo-Pop band La Roux is a quiet, unassuming 21 year old. She is also ridiculously talented and has pretty fantastic hair.
My fave video of hers.

One thing that stood out to me about the crazy talented duo The Presets was that they are ridiculously funny. I mean, really, they made me laugh, like, a lot.
Love this song and this video.
Saw their concert after the shoot. Their whole sound and performance was polished and dancey and crazy fun.
Here are Jules and Kim in all of their glory.

Blue Streak
When you work in photography, its always smart to come equipped with your own style team; people who you can trust to get the job done well, right and, if need be, fast. I found my style team when I started photographing for a production and consulting company, Blue Streak Entertainment, which is a company founded by Miss Teri Lea Yoest. Teri Lea is a producer, consultant, a nail technician, a choreographer and can dance with a bottle on her head, but that's a whole nother story. Our celebrity make-up girl is the talented Christina Natale. Christina is formally trained in make-up and all things fashion. Everyone you put in her chair comes out looking like a million bucks and feeling like a movie star. Dominique Mahler is a colorist, hair stylist, and wardrobe stylist extraordinaire. Jack and master of her trades, I not only recommend her to everyone I know, I'm also a client. ;) So these are my girls. The ones I would bring with me anywhere to work on anything and feel 110% confident that they will rock it each time. (from L to R, Dominique Mahler, Teri Lea Yoest, Christina Natale, and moi)

Women in Music
I haven't posted in a long time. I've been in the process of moving into a bigger place, buying a new car, and holiday craziness but I attended the Women in Music holiday party to photograph on Monday and thought I'd share some images from the event!
